Alex Sabella gave the Blades the lead after fifty-seven minutes, but Gary Hamson equalised for Leeds twenty minutes later only for Doug Brown to get the winner for Sheffield with four minutes left to go. Terry Connor was the Leeds substitute. Raul Gorriti and Victor Hurtado were Peruvian trialists. Sheffield used two subsitutes, Paul Casey coming on for Leendert De Goey at half-time and Smith for Mick Speight after sixty-eight minutes. The Referee was A. Challinor (Maltby)
